How to cook mushrooms: Tips

1. Cleaning Mushrooms:

Use a damp cloth or paper towel to gently wipe the mushrooms clean. Feel free to rinse under water if using the Sautéing method below, which I highly recommend!

2. Sautéing Mushrooms:

For a delicious and quick side dish, sauté sliced mushrooms in water first until the water has evaporated. Follow this by tossing in oil and cooking on high heat until they are golden brown and tender.

3. Roasting Mushrooms:

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss whole or sliced mushrooms with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

4. Freezing Mushrooms:

If you have a surplus of mushrooms, you can freeze them for later use. Clean and slice the mushrooms, then spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the freezer until the mushrooms are frozen. Transfer the frozen mushrooms to a freezer-safe bag or container and store them in the freezer for up to 6 months.
